Selynin Weyr

Selynin Weyr is located in the original home of the northern explorers those whom broke away from Nesrin Weyr many generations ago. It is in the side of one of the smaller mountains nestled in amongst the arctic forest and many many caves and tunnels. The ‘bowl’ of the weyr is actually just flat open ground situated between two arms of the same mountain. The height of the two arms protects the bowl from most of the winds that come tearing across the arctic plains.

The hunting grounds for all of the settlements are located to the southeast of the mountain range. This is where the wild northern Ossiwithan roam along with a variety of other arctic creatures.

At least once a year however the dragonriders and hunters will venture west of the mountain range to the ocean where they will hunt the nearly dragon sized fish. Only the biggest dragons can bring one in on their own and even then most struggle. The hunters are dropped off at the waters edge where the dragon’s will bring the fish to be cut up and divided to be taken back to all the holds and weyrs. Even the small family holds will receive portions of fish for the nutrients found in the giant aquatic beasts are rare but essential for living in the cold northern wastes.

Of all the creatures that are killed to support the northern settlements nothing goes to waste. Every last scrap is used, whether to cloth the humans or feed hungry canines during the deepest parts of winter.
