Player Name: Maira
Character Name: O’sin (Olansin)
Rank: Brownrider to Keenanth
Age: 20 Turns
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: bisexual, prefers males though
Appearance: Topping out at 6’1, O’sin is not one of the shorter riders by any means. His tall build stretches out his muscular frame so he’s rather lean instead of bulky like some. O’sin has average brown hair that he lets run a little on the long side (maybe a couple inches) and it has a few lighter highlights from the lots of sun. His skin is lightly tanned and just never seems to get much darker despite constant exposure to sun. Raised in a Weyr, O’sin has always had access to fairly well made, sturdy clothes even if they weren’t anything fancy. Even though he’s been a rider for seven turns now, he’s never taken to wearing anything more than the basic sturdy clothes he grew up with: boots, long pants and sleeveless tunics.
Personality: O’sin is a rather grounded person and has not been affected by being a rider as much as some. To him, Keenanth is just an extension of himself and not a status symbol. He accepts his responsibilities willingly and rarely turns down the chance to do a little extra for his wing mates or fellow weyrfolk. Even with his sense of responsibility, O’sin is most often a watcher rather than a doer. He likes to people watch and rarely actively seeks out relationships (friendship or otherwise) and being a transfer from Asharawn to Nesrin finds it a little harder to fit in but he hides it well by doing his job and being friendly when need be. Some people mistake O’sin’s quietness for shyness. He isn’t shy by any means, just quiet and somewhat reserved. Once he makes a connection with somebody, he is a very warm and caring person.
History: Olansin was born at Asharawn Wherhold to a rider and raised there, a typical holdbrat. He was bounced around between foster families in the Hold but not because of anything he’d done wrong. It was simply because the first few families he was placed with didn’t really have time for him. Olansin didn’t mind, he was fairly independent even as a child and spent more time by himself reading or drawing or writing than with his families.
Having not found a craft he liked or was incredibly good at, when the chance came for Olansin to stand at 13 turns he jumped on the chance. He was among those most surprised when he actually impressed. The general opinion was that a little loner like him would never impress and he had started to believe that everybody was right. When Keenanth planted himself at Olansin’s feet however and introduced himself and demanded food, everybody was proved wrong.
The trials of weyrlinghood were a bit more drastic for O’sin because of his loner tendencies and how everything centered on group cooperation. By the time they were allowed into fighting wings, O’sin had bonded with a few of his fellow riders and had gained a bit more of an outgoing demeanor.
Life was progressing as it does when the call for more riders came from Nesrn and O'sin had to leave behind many of his friends from weyrlinghood. Despite the loss, O’sin didn’t retreat back into his hermit like habits. He fought and tried hard to keep his new personality as the dominant one and for the most part won out. Although he hasn’t actively sought out new friends, O’sin has slowly been making them.
Now living at and flying for Nesrin Weyr instead of where he was born and raised, O’sin is trying hard to make a place for himself. If this involves working extra drills or shoveling stalls for the Ossies, O’sin does it. Doing all the odd jobs has enabled O’sin to open up even more because of all the people he has to work with.
Dragon's Name: Keenanth
Age: 7
Color: a light grey-brown with darker shadings on wings, feet and tail
Personality: Quiet at times but for the most part a lot more outgoing than his rider. He is O'sin's perfect balance and knows it. He has made it his personal duty to get O'sin to open up and over the past 12 years he has done a pretty fine job of it in his opinion. |
